1.What future does Hrothgar predict for Beowulf?
A: Hrothgar predicts that Beowulf will rule his people, with a bloody fist, and supports him
2.Who is Hygd and why is she not like Modthryth?
A:Hygd was a queen and she wasn't as violent as Modthryth, she was kind to help and wanted to help her people
3.Beowulf reports to Hygelac that Hrothgar may marry his daughter
Freawaru to Ingeld. Why does he plan to do that? What does Beowulf
expect the result will be? (Remember the Finn story, lines 1070-1158.)
How does Beowulf think the peace will be broken? Is this the type of
report we expected from the hero Beowulf, or are we seeing a new side of
him?
A:Beowulf wants to offer his daughter to a neighboring king to end conflict for a while, and to have prosperity for a while. Then battle will strike out. This says that he expects bad thing to happen but is a great leader, just not fully positive about outcomes.
4.How does Beowulf report about his own adventures? Does he report accurately?
A:He was very accurate when he talked about his battles, and was really confident about it, it really felt like he was bloating about but that's how they talked in that age.
5.What does Beowulf do with the treasure he was given? What does Hygelac give him?
A: He gave it back to the king, and the kind gave him his,"boar standard, a suit of armor, and a sword belonging to Hrothgar's brother."
